“The local radio and TV stations both covered the projection and commented on how spectacular it was, and that it was something the town had never seen before.”

What the client wanted

Guide Dogs Week is an event organised by the Guide Dogs charity to raise funds and awareness of its work. Penny Parker, a volunteer puppy walker and co-ordinator of the East and Mid-Suffolk fundraising branch, wanted something for Guide Dog Week that was completely different and had never been done before by the charity. Penny had seen our projection mapping work for Angie Scott’s Cakes and wanted to use a similar approach.

Our concept

Penny had the opportunity to rent a shop window in Felixstowe so we worked together to develop visuals that would really make the window stand out and grab the attention of people passing by.

We created a short film which was projected on the shop window. It featured very cute puppies as well as key information about how people could support the charity, how to sponsor a puppy, how to volunteer and how to donate money.

The result

“It was moving, it was eye-catching, it was visual, it was really good and we got some really, really good feedback,” says Penny. The shop owner said she’d never seen so many people stop and look at the window.

As a result of the public stopping and watching the projection, Penny took several bookings for talks and the charity received several inquiries from people who wanted to volunteer. People also came from the other side of town to see the projection and to donate money. They had watched the film and were keen to find out more about the work of the charity.

What the client says

“I was really pleased, really pleased. We shared the projection all over social media and it got hundreds and hundreds, if not thousands, of hits,” says Penny.

The local radio and TV stations both covered the projection and commented on how spectacular it was, and that it was something the town had never seen before.

“It was one of the highlights of the year really. People are still talking about everything we did in Guide Dog Week. It wouldn’t have been the Guide Dog Week that it was without that window.”
