Sunnyside Garden Centre wanted their new adventure golf course to be more than just another round of crazy golf. They asked us to create interactive moments that would surprise and delight players. With projection mapping and motion-triggered effects, we turned a fun pastime into an engaging experience.
Who doesn’t love a bit of crazy golf? From fun props to good times with pals, this is a pastime everyone loves. But how do you elevate the adventure golf experience to the next level? Sunnyside Garden Centre asked this question, and we answered.
The folks at Sunnyside were opening a new adventure golf course, but wanted a way to make it stand out. Their goal was to offer their customers something more engaging and immersive than a static course. They turned to us to help them make this a reality.
To transition this Secret Garden golfing experience from fun to exciting, we decided to introduce interactive elements to several of the unique mini courses. Our concept included various whimsical sequences, all triggered by different motions that golfers would naturally do while playing and traversing the course.
By incorporating sensors into our projection mapping of each area, we were able to create trigger points at various stages of the adventure golf experience. This included a talking tree triggered into telling jokes when a ball was putted through its trunk, butterflies scattering at the swing of a club, and a brick wall ‘crumbling’ at the successful completion of a hole.
All of this was achieved through the placement of multiple projectors to form a permanent installation. The added WOW factor of projection and seamlessly triggered visuals has truly enhanced this adventure golf experience, resulting in happy customers who return again and again.
