HOUSE OF PARLIAMENT (NHS 200 YEARS)
Film: the Houses of Parliament lit for the NHS on International Nurses Day and Florence Nightingale's 200th birthday.
NHS England and Parliament UK asked us to light up the Houses of Parliament for International Nurses Day, which in 2020 was also Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday. It came in the middle of the COVID crisis, while the country was thanking its health and care workers.
We set up on the South Bank, opposite Parliament and beside St Thomas’ Hospital. Four laser projectors sent images of Florence Nightingale and messages of thanks across the Thames onto a section of the building 257 metres wide and 80 metres high. We had 45 minutes on site to align and blend everything to the stonework. Parliament staff switched off their spotlights and internal lights for us, and national TV and newspapers covered it. The Lady of the Lamp case study tells the whole story.
