SKY ZEN INTERACTIVE (LIVE TV)
Film: Sky Zen interactive projection for live TV, mapped and reacting in real time on the Sky Sports studio floor.
Sky Sports had the Ryder Cup and wanted presenters on its evening shows to replay key putts from the day on a real green in its studio near London. Zen Green Stage supplied that green, a surface that changes shape to copy the slopes of any real one. The gap was the viewer at home, who could not read a slope from a camera shot.
We combined our 3D modelling software with data from Sky and projected graphics onto the green: contour lines, arrows showing which way the ground falls, and an arched target line from putter to hole. The idea was named Zen Eye, and anyone who has played a golf video game will know the look. The Ryder Cup case study explains how it worked.
